Empowering the Next Generation: Reflections on the Annual Mentoring Summit 2024

Thanks to Kelvin Kong, Executive Director of Mentoring SG, for inviting me to the Annual Mentoring Summit on November 1, 2024, at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre. The event was filled with inspiring stories of mentorship, reflecting Mentoring SG’s mission to nurture and guide the young generation through structured mentorship and support.

As John C. Crosby once said, “Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.” This summit embodied that spirit. It provided an opportunity not only to connect with like-minded individuals but also to make meaningful friendships and connecting with the youths.

The energy and passion in the room underscored the positive impact mentorship can have on both personal and professional growth.

In the spirit of giving back, I’m honored to have joined Mentoring SG as a mentor, and I look forward to contributing to this meaningful cause. I am also thrilled to accept an invitation from Ryan Hong, Assistant Director of the Career and Attachment Office at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), to mentor NTU students. Thank you, Ryan, for this exciting opportunity to support and guide young talents.

But as much as I am eager to mentor, I also recognize the value of having mentors myself. In my entrepreneurial journey, I am fortunate to have two MBA classmates from NUS Business School who offer me the support, guidance, and encouragement that mentorship brings. I look forward to learning and growing with their help.

As I reflect on this journey, one truth stands out: We rise by raising others.
Empowering the next generation not only strengthens our communities but also creates a cycle of positive impact that we can all be proud of. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey.
